After years of writing, directing, and producing video and interactive media, Jonathan founded Media Electric in 2002 to provide high-quality, cost-effective media for electronic platforms.
"I've witnessed and participated in the extraordinary lowering of costs in this industry over the last twenty years. I positioned Media Electric to always be at the forefront of digital innovation to both lower costs of production and the price of admission to creative engagement." Jonathan brings three perspectives to a project: 1) The filmmaker to tell the story with images; 2) The digital artist to understand and instructionally design the human computer interface and user experience; 3) The computer cuckoo and compressionist to keep the costs down, distribution target flexible, and speed-up the path from conception to audience engagement.
Involvement with interactive video started in 1984, when Jonathan began producing, writing, directing, and instructionally designing several IVIS (Interactive Video Instruction System) laser discs for DEC. In 1991, Jonathan worked on creating electronic performance support system designs for sales support, including a digital video based help system for an early video conferencing system. For over 25 years, Jonathan produced films, several videos, CD-ROMs / DVDs/ Electronic Kiosks for training, marketing, and children's education utilizing cutting edge video compositing and compression; and just-in-time training using streaming video to dramatically reduce technical support response times (over 3,000 streams still in use at Hewlett-Packard). Jonathan continues to consult with Hewlett-Packard and provide media approaches and specifications for the production of highly-compressed video for delivery on interactive desktop and handheld platforms.
In addition to several awards, in 1998, Jonathan was profiled as a "Top 100" producer by AV Video & Multimedia Magazine.
